Want to create your own Metaverse art gallery?
OnCyber.io allows you to visit and create personal spaces in the Metaverse
I’ve previously spoken about how powerful interoperability can be for tokens and NFTs, but what does that really mean? A Metaverse art gallery is a perfect example of reading data from different smart contracts to create unique, personal, and collaborative experiences.
OnCyber.io is an easy to use website app to create your own Metaverse space, or visit spaces created by others.
Here are some cool spaces I enjoyed visiting:
OnCyber Hub - the space itself is exactly what it says it is: a hub. This is a collection of portals to dozens of innovative spaces.
6529 AB + 1 - This is a fun space where you can see a lot of early ArtBlocks including some Chromie Squiggles, Fidenzas, and more.
6529 Photo A - A gallery of photography and video NFTs plus a MeeBit.
You can also browse OnCyber spaces here, based on popularity, trending, or most recently created.
Creating your own world
A cool thing about the Metaverse is that you’re not limited by things like the normal laws of physics, and even your craziest dreams can be created as environments. To get started, all you need to do is pick out a template from OnCyber.io.
There are several free options, and then there are other other templates you can use if you’re a member of a particular NFT club like Bored Ape Yacht Club. The third option is to collect an NFT space created by a designer, like this one for about $4,400 (at time of writing) from RTFKT.
All you need to begin creating your virtual world is a digital wallet, like MetaMask.
Once you have your wallet, connect to OnCyber.io, and you’re ready to begin! The next thing is to select a template. For my gallery, I chose the free Warehouse template.
Once I created my space, populating the gallery was as easy as clicking on the black image areas in the template. OnCyber has intuitive and easy to use controls that allow you to scale, position, and change the frames on your NFTs.
While you can only place NFTs that you own, another cool feature is the ability to link more than just one wallet, and also generate invite links to collaborate with others to hang art in your gallery! Many wallets are supported, including Ethereum, Polygon, Tezos, Coinbase, Phantom, and others.
And if you’re into 3D art, OnCyber is working with artists to create more templates to be compatible with their platform. Now is a great time to be an architect for virtual spaces!
Once you’ve created your gallery, you can deploy it for the whole world to view. Additionally, if you have a VR headset (including the Meta Quest 2), you can enter your gallery and get the full immersive experience.
If you take the leap and create a gallery or space, I’d love to see it! Post in the comments, or send an email to tokensforgood@gmail.com.
